Star Ranbir Kapoor returns to the silver screen in the delightful rom-com “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar” directed by Luv Ranjan, featuring Shraddha Kapoor as his romantic interest. Set against the backdrop of Delhi, the film follows Mickey (Ranbir Kapoor), who manages his family businesses while also clandestinely operating a breakup consultancy with his friend Manu Dabbas (Anubhav Singh Bassi). When tasked with aiding Manu in his own relationship issues, Mickey embarks on a journey that leads to unexpected encounters and romantic entanglements.
The narrative intricately weaves together elements of romance and family drama, maintaining a steady pace throughout. The chemistry between the lead pair is palpable, and their performances, particularly Shraddha Kapoor’s, elevate the film. Ranbir Kapoor effortlessly embodies the charm and wit expected of a rom-com protagonist, showcasing his versatility as an actor.
One of the film’s highlights is its exceptional music, composed by Pritam, which complements the storytelling and enhances the viewing experience. The colorful cinematography by Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran further adds to the visual appeal.
However, the film does suffer from pacing issues in the initial stages, with the Spain sequence feeling somewhat drawn out. Additionally, certain monologue-heavy scenes could have benefited from tighter editing to maintain viewer engagement.
Nevertheless, director Luv Ranjan succeeds in delivering a compelling narrative that seamlessly integrates themes of love and familial relationships. Despite its minor flaws, “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar” emerges as an enjoyable rom-com with a heartwarming undertone, making it a worthy cinematic experience.
