Synopsis:
In “Sridevi Shoban Babu,” directed by Prasanth Kumar, Gouri K Kishan portrays Sridevi, a fashion designer in Hyderabad seeking revenge for her humiliated father. Along her journey to Araku, she encounters Shoban Babu, played by Santosh Shoban, and romance ensues. The film explores whether Sridevi achieves her goal and how her life transforms after meeting Shoban.
Positive Aspects:
Santosh Shoban delivers a convincing performance as Sridevi Shoban, portraying a rural character effortlessly and shining in comedic moments. Gouri K Kishan impresses with her lively and expressive portrayal of Sridevi, showcasing good chemistry with Santosh. Supporting actors Nagababu and Rohini contribute commendably to the film.
Negative Aspects:
The storyline feels outdated, lacking novelty and failing to engage the audience beyond the initial setup. Weak storytelling and uninspired direction detract from the viewing experience. The film relies heavily on commercial elements like comedy and songs, unable to salvage its poor script. The pacing suffers, particularly in the first half, with unnecessary sequences prolonging the runtime to a tedious length.
Technical Evaluation:
The music by Kamran is decent, with a few standout tracks enhancing the on-screen experience. Siddharth’s cinematography maintains a clean aesthetic, complementing the production values. However, the editing could have been tighter to improve the overall flow of the film.
Verdict:
“Sridevi Shoban Babu” offers little beyond its predictable storyline, resulting in a disappointing viewing experience. Despite some strong performances and technical merits, the film fails to deliver a compelling romantic comedy, making it a lackluster choice for audiences seeking fresh entertainment.
