Spark The Life Movie 2023

Spark The Life, featuring Vikrant, Mehreen Pirzada, and Rukshar Dhillon, has recently hit theaters, with Vikrant himself handling the story and screenplay. Let’s delve into the film.

Plot Summary:

Lekha (Mehreen Pirzada) has high expectations for her life partner, rejecting every suitor her father proposes. However, she quickly falls for Arya (Vikrant). Simultaneously, a series of suicides occur in the city, with the individuals involved also causing harm to others before taking their own lives. Lekha’s parents suspect Arya’s involvement in these incidents, leading to a mystery unfolding. Who is truly behind these deaths? What motivates the killer, and what do they seek to achieve? These questions form the essence of Spark.

Highlights:

The film boasts a substantial budget, evident in its meticulous frame-by-frame execution. Despite Vikrant’s debut, the team spared no effort, delivering a visually striking experience with impressive production design and well-shot songs.

Debutant Vikrant delivers a commendable performance, complemented by his charming looks. Mehreen and Rukshar Dhillon shine in their roles, showcasing good chemistry. Vennela Kishore and Satya’s humorous antics provide occasional relief. Guru Somasundaram’s portrayal is commendable, although better dubbing could enhance his impact. The latter part of the film features some noteworthy scenes compared to the first half.

Drawbacks:

Spark’s main flaw lies in its attempt to incorporate numerous genres, resulting in a mishmash. While aspiring to cover suspense, romance, comedy, and action, the film’s narrative feels disjointed. Despite the potential for a solid crime thriller, Spark succumbs to over-ambition, drawing parallels with films like 7th Sense and Thani Oruvan.

Compounded by weak writing, the film’s extended runtime, close to three hours, tests audience patience. Just as the viewer anticipates the conclusion, multiple subplots with predictable twists are introduced, diluting the overall impact.

Technical Aspects:

Hesham Abdul Wahab contributes excellent songs, and the background score by A R Ashok Kumar is decent. The visuals are aesthetically pleasing, thanks to the cinematography. Unfortunately, the editing falls short, elongating the film unnecessarily by over 20 minutes. Despite these flaws, the production values remain high.

While Spark’s storyline is not groundbreaking, it had the potential to be a successful commercial entertainer if executed better. Inexperience is evident in several scenes, leading to a lack of fluidity in the narrative. The second half offers sporadic moments of quality but struggles to maintain consistency.

Verdict:

In conclusion, Spark had the ingredients to be a gripping thriller, but its execution fell short. Lead actors Vikrant, Mehreen Pirzada, and Rukshar Dhillon deliver commendable performances, with the second half containing some notable moments. However, the unnecessarily protracted runtime, reaching three hours, hinders the overall viewing experience. Consequently, the end result falls short of satisfaction.”
