Netflix has been diversifying its content recently, and their latest addition is the romantic comedy “Plan A Plan B,” featuring Tamannaah and Ritesh Deshmukh. Here’s a look at how the film fares.

Story:

Kaustubh Chougule (Ritesh Deshmukh) is a family lawyer specializing in divorces. Nirali Vora (Tamannaah Bhatia) is a psychologist-turned-matchmaker who moves into the shared workspace where Kaustubh’s office is located. They frequently clash due to their differing opinions and professions. The film follows their journey as they eventually fall for each other.

Plus Points:

Ritesh Deshmukh delivers a strong performance, especially in portraying the pain of a man affected by his unfaithful wife. Tamannaah Bhatia is equally convincing as a matchmaker, bringing authenticity to her role. Some scenes, like the one where a drunk Nirali calls Kaustubh, are particularly engaging. The climax, while predictable, is decent. The film’s short runtime of 1 hour and 45 minutes works in its favor.

Minus Points:

“Plan A Plan B” falls short as one of the blandest and most predictable films in recent times. It lacks an emotional connection, making it hard for viewers to root for the characters. Despite being labeled a rom-com, it fails to deliver on both fronts. The writing is a major letdown, wasting the talents of actors like Poonam Dhillon in insignificant roles. The film feels rushed and uninspired.

With OTT platforms pushing creative boundaries, this film offers nothing new. The narrative lacks excitement, showing a lack of effort from the filmmakers.

Technical Aspects:

The music by Bann Chakraborthy and Yug Bhusal is commendable, and the cinematography is decent, showcasing the limited office locations well. Crisp editing helps the film’s pacing. However, the direction by Shashanka Ghosh and the weak script by Rajat Arora fall short. Considering Arora’s previous work on notable films, the writing here is surprisingly subpar.

Verdict:

Overall, “Plan A Plan B” is a forgettable release. Despite the best efforts of Ritesh and Tamannaah, the cliched writing and poor execution make it a tedious watch. It’s a film you can easily skip this weekend.
