Story:
Set in Pune, the story of Aho Vikramaarka revolves around men from Parvathy Slum who mysteriously disappear after being taken to a place called Dhandaka. The narrative follows corrupt SI Vikramarka (Dev Gill) as he investigates and uncovers that Asura (Pravin Tarde) holds control over the area. What follows is a tale of whether Vikramarka chooses to rescue the people or aligns with Asura, with the role of Archana (Chitra Shukla) unfolding as the story progresses.
Positive Aspects:
Dev Gill, stepping away from his typical antagonist roles, impresses as the hero. His strong physique suits the part, and he delivers a commendable performance, especially in the mass action sequences. His portrayal in emotional scenes is also noteworthy.
Chitra Shukla, playing the female lead, shares good on-screen chemistry with Dev Gill and delivers a satisfactory performance. Pravin Tarde shines as the antagonist, while Kalakeya Prabhakar, Tejaswini Pandit, and the supporting cast perform adequately.
The film is elevated by Ravi Basrur’s engaging score, which enhances several key moments. The interval fight sequence stands out as a particular highlight.
Negative Aspects:
Unfortunately, the film suffers from several flaws. While it starts off decently, it quickly falls into a predictable and routine narrative. The clichéd hero-heroine introductions, a shallow love story, and the menacing villains feel all too familiar, reminiscent of films like KGF.
The characterization of the hero draws heavily from previous films such as Temper and Pataas. The film’s heavy reliance on familiar mass movie tropes makes it a dull and uninspiring experience. After a somewhat engaging first half, the second half becomes tedious, filled with illogical scenes that test the audience’s patience.
In an attempt to portray the hero as a larger-than-life figure, the film introduces unnecessary elements, which detract from the natural flow of the story in the second half. Additionally, the predictable plot twists and a weak climax diminish the film’s overall impact. The songs fail to make an impression, and the sentimental scenes leading up to the climax come across as overly dramatic.
Technical Aspects:
The film boasts good production values, with well-executed action sequences. However, the songs fall short of expectations. Ravi Basrur’s background score is a standout, adding a stylish flair to several scenes. The cinematography is decent, but the editing leaves much to be desired, with many scenes feeling unnecessarily long. Two songs in the second half should have been trimmed.
Director Peta Trikoti’s effort to bring something new falls short, as the film feels like a rehash of several mass movies. The cliched villains and hero characterization fail to bring anything fresh to the table. While a few mass scenes and action sequences are noteworthy, the overall execution lacks innovation.
